I was born in Moscow, Russia and came to US in 1994 at the age of 16. Received a B.F.A. in Photography from San Jose State University. Worked in the field (anything from one hour lab processing to portrait studios and so on) since 1997. Currently, I run a rental darkroom and educational space in San Diego - Rollov Film Center. There I teach workshops in black and white and alternative printing processes. In 2012 I built a darkroom inside a 35ft school bus and traveled the continental US twice from San Diego to Maine preaching the gospel of analog. I have been working with film since the age of 12 and am always interested in learning more. Nowadays am diving deeper back in time by focusing my attention on things like wet plate, daguerreotypes and printing techniques like platinum, carbon, salt and so on.
