Effect of less sodium sulfite?

Post by markbau »

So tonight I was mixing up some D76, when it came time to add the sulfite I only had 75g instead of the required 100g, so what I have mixed up is 100% of the metol, hydroquinone and Borax but 75% of the sulfite. Will this be useable or should I chuck it? The 5x7 negs I'll be developing are nothing important, just still lifes taken in the studio.

I've developed 2 sheets with the sulphite deficient developer and although I haven't printed them yet they look pretty good to my eye.

Were you able to print any of them? If so, how did they look? My guess is that they had slightly more graininess. Also, because these were made under controlled lighting the contrast was lower on the negative and the lack of 25 grams of ss was not an issue.
