New edition of Film Developing Cookbook?

Post by tomkyle469 » Mon Oct 15, 2018 12:49 pm

Hi Steve,
Here and there, sometimes I read about a “new Film Developing Cookbook”. The top link in the forum still points to a 1998 version. Do I get it right, there's a new edition coming up? What is the relationship between the Darkroom and FilmDev Cookbooks? Are they companions? Or more like antecessor/decessor? What kind of differences?
Curious regards,
Carsten.

There is an amazing new edition filled with everything left out of the first, new research, and lots of other great stuff. I wrote the first ed. with Bill Troop as editor. Bill is writing the second with me as editor. It is currently stalled because I'm too busy to edit the last 3 chapters. Stay tuned.

From what I understand the two books complement each other, Tom.

Sounds great, Steve, I'm really looking forward to the new book!

Just received a notice from Amazon that they canceled my pre-order of the new book.
Made it sound like they won't be selling it...

Any new updates Steve/Bill?

The book is temporarily stalled (i.e., significantly past its deadline). The reason is that I don't have the time to edit it due to a major illness in my family (i.e., wife), the completion of my own book, and the fact that I am leaving for Cuba in two weeks to teach two workshops. You can blame me.

Anything good is worth waiting for. Take care of yourself and your wife. And safe travels.

Not looking to blame anyone.
