Winter Heating

My built my darkroom also in my garage. It is about 100 square feet with insulated walls. I use a plug-in floor heater (milk-house heater) that is 1500 watts. It takes about 45 minutes to be comfortable.

Winter Heating

I use a cadet wall heater, https://jet.com/product/detail/927eddfc ... aQodFJQAPQ.

They also make a double unit that I have in my larger office, https://jet.com/product/detail/36037c03 ... aQodR1cCEA.

They are completely dark, efficient, make very little noise, and easy to install, for an electrician, or for you if you know how to work with electricity.
Do it in the Dark,

Winter Heating

My darkroom is in my basement, in Iowa most other options are not feasible. I do use a small window air conditioner in the Summer and a small space heater in the Winter but the darkroom is a pretty comfortable 60-80 F so neither works too hard. I also use a dehumidifier in the Summer time to keep the humidity below 50%. Right now the relative humidity is 38%. Dehumidifier sits over a floor drain so I don't need to dump it but I'm thinking of saving and filter that water since it's essentially distilled.

I have an oil-filler electric radiator that works very well. No fan to stir up dust. Heats my lower level darkroom quickly.
