Omega D5 Assembly

Post by LeicaLew25 » Wed Mar 13, 2019 4:48 am

I'm assembling a D5 which I bought used (obviously). Here's my first question. The disk that my wife is pointing at seems to be designed to ride on the gear track, however, there's so much play along the rod supporting it that it can ride anywhere between the track and the outer edge of the column. OTOH, it also seems possible to mount the head so the disk mounts inside the track. Which is right? What is this disk called? What purpose does it serve? Please look at the attached jpg

No idea what that part is called, but on my D5 that flange your wife's finger is on rides along the outside edge of the column.

Have a look at these photos of mine. Apologies for the dust.

Thank you, Tim! I had it on my list to photograph my D5 but you saved me the effort!

FYI LeicaLewis, these tend to pop off anytime the D5 is moved and they can be a ... uh, pain to pop back on as shown in Tim's photos. Once on they should stay in place ... until you move the enlarger again!
Do it in the Dark,
