Re: D-23 Divided
I could prepare myself the D-76. Which are the dilution miming the D23 Divided? Are you asking about Divided D-76? If so, the formula is at the bottom of this reply. However, divided development, as I mentioned, is generally not meant for pushing film. By the way: Mytol it is good to push? And whic...

Re: D-23 Divided
Divided development is not usually used for pushing film. Film has a real speed that is engineered at the time of manufacture and it is very difficult to realize an actual speed increase through development, as measured by a measurable increase in shadow density. Though we speak of "pushing&quo...

Re: FX-1 and the RECIPROCITY EFFECT
For FX questions the person to ask is Bill Troop, one of our forum moderators. In fact, I think I'll create an FX forum for that purpose. For Reciprocity, I can weigh in on that. Reciprocity is primarily a function of exposure and has to do with the reciprocal relationship between f/stop and shutter...

Re: Datatainer labels
This is THE question that has plagued photographers since Nicéphore Niépce first labeled his bottle of Bitumen of Judea to tell it from his bottle of silver chloride. I use Tim's second method, masking tape on a dry bottle. However, I'm going to try his grease pencil method the next time I need to l...

What could possibly better than something that works? You know the old saying, "If it ain't fixed, don't break it," or something like that.

Omega D2
I've just come into the possession of an Omega D2 4x5 enlarger in excellent condtion if anybody wants it for the cost of shipping. Shorter than the D5, the D2 is considered by some to be the best enlarger Omega made. At one time it was the standard enlarger in every photography school. In fact, it w...

Re: Lots of Equipment for Shipping Cost
An update on this post. I managed to send equipment to 7 people this week, and have 7 more scheduled for next week. As mentioned, I am going in the order the request was received. Also, because many people want the same item I am limiting what I send to the primary request (for example, enlarging le...

Re: Dry-down dramas
This isn't specific to the paper, but recently I finally picked up a very cheap ($49) microwave at Wal-Mart just for the purpose of dry-down tests (I still can't believe Adams used his then-very-expensive kitchen micro for this, probably right before nuking his leftovers). It works great and I don'...

Re: Lots of Equipment for Shipping Cost
Greetings, Everyone. I'm gratified with the response for equipment. I would much rather know this was being used than gathering dust in my garage. However, the response has been overwhelming. We're approaching 50 requests for everything from 16x20 easels to 10ml glass beakers! I have spent most of t...

Havana NUDE Photography Workshop
As you may know, I have taught how to photograph the nude for more than 30 years. This year I am going to hold the first, and it may be the only, nude workshop in Havana. The workshop is limited to 8 photographers. There will be 4 models and 4 to 5 locations (one has a swimming pool). The workshop w...

Havana Street Photography Workshop
This December 8 to 16 I will be leading the Havana Street Photography workshop. It's 7 days of photography in Havana, an over night stay in the tobacco region, and a whole lot of fun. It's one of the least expensive photo workshops in Cuba. I've been teaching in Cuba since 2001, this will be my 26th...

Re: Lots of Equipment for Shipping Cost
Greetings, All. I am overwhelmed, but gratified, with the response for equipment. I would like to see this equipment out of storage and put to good use. As of this moment I have more than 40 requests. I will answer each of you individually in the order your request was received. I will also fulfill ...

Lots of Equipment for Shipping Cost
I maintain the darkrooms for Crescent Valley High School, one of the last HS darkroom programs in Oregon. A lot of equipment is donated and much of it is inappropriate for high school use. For example, the students primarily use 35mm. I have a score of 75mm, 80mm, 100mm, 135mm lenses in excellent co...

Re: Beseler Dichro 45 S head
Beseler is pretty much out of business. I think they have one person that still answers the phones, or something like that. Repairing the enlarger chassis is not too difficult but I have no experience with the electronics. Can you try taking it to an electrical repair shop and see if they can diagno...

Re: vertical tray for space constrain
Your instincts are good. Tray development is only one method. Many photographers have painted the developer and fixer onto the paper using a high quality paint brush or sable art brush. Just make certain you coat everything evenly and keep brushing it on until completion. You might also want to rota...

Greetings, Thomas, yes, thank you. I have a Durst 609 that I want to either make available for shipping cost on the forum, or take to Central Valley High School - haven't decided which. One piece is broken on the left side (see attached images), and I have no lens boards or carriers. _DSC6022.jpg _D...
