Re: Amidol

First of all I would like to know what do you mean by "Chinese" amidol.
Do you have any idea of the purity of it? Is it the "free" 2,4-diaminophenol or is it the dihydrochloride salt?
Do you know something about the impurities?
All the best

Dr. Roland F Beers variable contrast paper developer

Hello,
I am interested in this formula and I would appreciate if someone can give me the details of the original publication. I have checked in the net but I was unable to find it.
Thank you very much in advance and warm regads from Barcelona!

Re: Formula #47: Kodak Research Lab

Just a "trick": to dissolve sodium hydroxide it is easier and faster if you place the beaker (or the container) in an ice bath. If you have to dissolve a big amount of sodium hydroxide you can even place some ice inside the beaker and adjust later to the final volume required.

Formula #28 Mytol

Hi Steve and all,

On reading the formula #28 Mytol on p.244 [the same is valid for the formula #26 of the 3rd Ed. on p. 218) there is a footnote about dissolving the Phenidone in methyl hydrate. I would say "methanol" or methyl alcohol, right?

Best regards,
Jesús
