Hi Steve. . . Thanks! I had a bunch of info on the safelight and the SOX lamp from years back and finally put it all together in one place. Someone else sent me the info on the Rosco filters, do not rememberer who or where that came from. One thing to keep in mind is using the ND filters if you have...

Thanks for that Steve. . . guess it isn't just me then. I tried the T-Grain film when it first came out and did not like the way it looked. I really did not go any further with it but from what I remember, my first impression agrees with what you say. I knew there was something about it, but did not...

Zone VI Compensating Developing Timer repair needed

Based on the fact that the Paper setting works fine, would eliminate a failure of the probe or possible bad connection of the probe connector. I would venture to guess that the rotary switch is not making a reliable connection in the Film position. Oxidation or wear??? You might try using a switch/r...

Rapid fix, white precipitate-is this fix good?-is this sulfurization?

Hi Mike. . . Personally, I would toss any mixture that is not its usual color or consistency. I had an un-mixed Kodak Rapid Fixer, 1Gallon size, that I had kept on the shelf for a year that turned cloudy. It had a surfer odor and that spells (smells) bad to me. I tossed it without hesitation. That w...

Alkaline fixer?

Gordon also recommends the Formulary TF4 fix. I would bleive, from my experience, any rapid fix without hardener will be fine. As usual, I would test to be sure, but I would expect you will have good results. Be sure to let us know how things go!

Alkaline fixer?

I went to Gordon's book "The Book of Pyro" to be sure I read it or got it directly from him. If you look at page 18 he says, rapid fixers containing ammonium thiosulfate, if used without harder, are fine. He uses Kodak Fixer F24 and gives his 'Spoon Formula' on the same page. I have always used Koda...

I would whole heartedly agree that I, personally, would never modify any solution that I did not know the contents there of. Just me, but you open up a bag of worms by guessing.
